Monday Mixup: Kids Mode
Do you own a Samsung Galaxy S4 or S5? If so, and have already installed the latest update you may have noticed a new icon – Kids Mode! Have you taken a look at it yet? If not, here is a quick rundown of what it’s about!
As a new mode devoted to kids, I have taken complete advantage of it! Kids Mode lets you “allow” access to certain apps. They show up on the mode’s personal homescreen.
I had already downloaded a bunch of Fisher Price apps. I allowed V access to those exclusively. There is also another store devoted to this mode. It has catergories for specific ages and apps for each.
You can search for specific apps or just see what is offered in each catergory already. Some cost, some are free.
Kids cannot simply leave the mode either. There is a passcode lock that parents set up beforehand. Once it’s entered the phone reverts to normal mode.
I have found the interface to be very easily navigated, even for younger ones. The apps are right on the main screen and there is even a camera app preloaded so you do not need to allow the phone’s stock app.
If you do own a phone with a similar kids mode, take a look into it. For the short amount of time I’ve had it, it has been amazing. It keeps me reassured that she will not get into anything she shouldn’t be into like emails or internet browsers. And it is quite easy for me to get right out of it.
Do you have a kids mode enabled on your phone or other device? How do you like it? I’d love to hear!
Until next time…
