Funfetti Aqua Blue cake mix

I was so excited when I first found out there were blue, green, and purple (maybe yellow, too…or orange?) frostings that were made by Pillsbury! The colors are so vibrant and delicious looking, haha. Well, you can only imagine my excitement to see they made cake mixes of the same colors! My husband and I just had to buy a bag and see how it would turn out.

We were a bit skeptical since it seems on other products the advertised color is not always the same as the final product at home. So I gathered the ingredients and got to work. And no, I didn’t use Bottled water for this. Lol. I just thought it would be fun to put in the picture. ;P

So I put the water in, then the oil. The eggs couldn’t be completely added, however. Only egg whites could be used. It makes sense, though, since yellow yolks would make blue batter a bit green. To get the egg whites separate I cracked the shell in half and then poured the insides back and forth between the two shell halves. It worked pretty well for my first time doing it! A tiny bit of yolk slipped into the bowl, but I kept it to see if it would make any difference. After stirring it up I was a bit nervous the color would not turn out the same as the package showed since it was pretty light in comparison at this point. The bag does not have much mix in it, so I pulled out our Sesame Street cake pan. It is super cute! The mold has eight different characters’ faces and small dividers so you can easily break the entire cake into eight mini ones. There only seemed to be enough batter to fill half so I made four this time around. Then it was time to wait. I left it in for about 35 minutes. As you can see it kind of spilled over to the next segment but I wasn’t too worried about that. What concerned me more was what color the inside turned out to be!

Ooooh my! These pictures do NOT do the color justice. The green on the exterior I believe is from the non-stick spray since it was yellow colored. The inside, on the other hand, is beautiful. Seriously. 😀 If you ever happen upon this bag in the store, just know that they show the real deal on the package. Bravo, Pillsbury! The color came out exactly the same and I am in love with it. Did I mention how nice it was yet?

I am very pleased with how it came out for sure. If anyone tries any other colors let me know! I would love to know if they turn out just as awesome. The cake tastes great too, in case you were wondering. 🙂

Until next time…

About Three Handed Mommy

Mother of one, wife to one. Hoping for more children in the future but so far I'm a three handed mommy. One hand is in school, another in loving my family, the last is on here (and all that comes with it). I love origami and I doodle once in a blue moon. Maybe I will share some drawings, both old and new. I have a slight obsession with Hatake Kakashi, Batman, rubber duckies, pandas, and Pokemon. Then again, my obsession may prove to be more than slight on more than one occassion...don't judge. :P Since this is new and all to me, please bear with me while I find my rhythm and posting habits. Hope you enjoy what I put up here! Feel free to pin anything unless stated otherwise in a post. :)

  1. I looked for reviews AFTER my cake came out a mess! I bought all 4 colors to make a rainbow cake. I greased and flowered the pans and the cake still stuck and CRUMBLED all over. I couldn’t even put it together and had to throw it all away. Yours looks like it crumbled also, but you didn’t mention it. The color was true to the picture but I think quality was sacrificed for the color.

    • Cora, mine did crumble slightly, but not as much as I imagine it could have. I have a tendency to act before letting anything cool (it’s a terrible habit) so that may have attributed to it also. I do agree the color may have been put before quality.

      Thank you for reading! 😀

  2. I bought the blue cake mix, and I was wondering if it tasted like vanilla?

  3. Beach Ball Baker

Does it have sprinkles in the mix?
